1.Kolkata Knight Riders vs. Royal Challengers Bangalore – the Year 2017

Wow! What an unforgettable match of IPL 2017. The Royal Challengers Bangalore, who has been known for keeping the highest points in series, the same team is also known for going extremely low. Undoubtedly, the team included some of the greatest players, however, it seems like their luck wasn’t on their side that day when they faced the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Chasing the target of just 132-runs against the infamous Kolkata Knight Riders, the team led by all-time favourite Virat Kholi was all out on just 49 runs in the total 9.4 overs. And this history was made on April 23, 2017, at the Eden Gardens.

It was truly unexpected for the fans of Kholi and the entire world that Virat will be leaving the pitch on zero. Yes! Unfortunately, the main man did not get any chance to make a single run and went off on duck on the third ball. Also, another player, Kedar Jadhav wasn’t able to perform well, as he left the pitch by scoring 9-runs.

And the credit goes to Nathan Coulter Nile, Colin de Grandhomme and Chris Woakes who were able to take three wickets individually and made RCB face one of the unexpected defeats in the entire series by losing the match by 82 runs.

2.Royal Challengers Bangalore vs. Rajasthan Royals – the Year 2009

When it comes to the lowest total in the history of IPL, no one can forget the Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers match. The Royals not only made to the lowest scores in the IPL but also framed their name in creating the second-lowest score in the entire Twenty20 cricket’s history. What happened? Well! The ‘Royal Boys’ couldn’t reach the total score of 134 runs by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The entire team of Rajasthan Royal was out by only scoring 58 runs against the RCB. This historic event took place on April 18, 2009, at Cape Town, and the shocks were witnessed by the entire world.

In just 15.1 overs, the entire Rajasthan Royal was out by not even scoring the half of the rival’s score. Anil Kumble became the star of the match as he crashed 5 wickets in just 3.1 overs, which destroyed the strength of the opposite team and it faced an overwhelming defeat in the second match of the second series of IPL.

What was more shocking is that sportsmen like Ravindra Jadeja, Tyron Henderson, Yusuf Pathan only hit the double figures, and by chance, all were out at the score 11.

3.Mumbai Indians vs. Delhi Daredevils 2017

One of the surprising moments took place in the year 2017 when Delhi Daredevils (now known as Delhi Capitals) were all out in 13.4 overs by just making a score of 66. The total target was of 213 runs made by Mumbai Indians, which was quite big for the series, and people were expecting Delhi Daredevils to face defeat.

Some realist people were with the thought the Daredevils would be making 134 to 150 runs in the total, but people lost their minds to see the final score.

On the contrary, the gems of Mumbai Indians, Karn Sharma, and Harbhajan Singh took 3 wickets individually and overpowered the Daredevils. The total chase left to reach the actual score was 146 runs, which is considered to be a huge gap. Important players of Delhi Daredevils like Pat Cummins, Corey Anderson and Karun Nair couldn’t even make 25 runs, as Nair was out at 21 runs while Anderson and Cummins were able to score 10 runs only.

The match dates back to May 6, 2017, at the Feroz Shah Kotla and it contributed to the lowest score total in the history of IPL.

4.Kings XI Punjab vs. Delhi Daredevils 2017

The same year, same series, another defeat, just a week before the Daredevils made the lowest total in the history of IPL when they came face-to-face with Mumbai Indians. So in this match, they made on 67 runs against Kings XI Punjab on April 30, 2017, at the prominent Mohali ground. Great admiration for Sandeep Sharma, who managed to burst 4 Daredevils at the score of 20, which gave the entire Daredevil boys a chance to experience the cricket ground.

The entire team was out in 17.1 overs by the Kings XI Punjab. Players like Nair, Anderson, and Rabada, were able to score 11, 18, and 11 runs respectively. On the other hand, the Kings easily chased the score and made a total of 68-runs in just 7.5 overs.  It seems like 2017 was not in favour of the Daredevils.

5.Mumbai Indians vs. Kolkata Knight Riders 2008

Undoubtedly, the Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders are loved by everyone, but they do have a history. This time the Kolkata Knight Riders only made 67 runs in 15.2 overs before the entire team was out. In the captaincy of Ganguly, KKR’s opening batsman, Salman Butt just made 13 runs, whereas, Ajit Agarkar and the captain himself only made 15-runs individually.

In contrast, Sanath Jayasuriya blasted 17-balls and made 48 runs, which gave ease to the Mumbai Indians to win the match by making 68 runs within 5.3 overs.

There is no doubt that all the teams have played remarkably on the field in every IPL match. But the above-mentioned teams made the lowest total in the history of IPL. Nevertheless, people still love the efforts made by the teams and their players, and the fans are always excited to see these teams every year in the Indian Premier League.
